3 others suffered head injuries in DPS boxing drills

At least three other Department of Public Safety recruits have received serious head injuries from a violent boxing drill in which a trainee recently died, a newspaper reported.

The injuries were revealed by former recruits concerned about trainee Jimmy Ray Carty's death, according to today's editions of The Dallas Morning News, which used records and interviews to compile the information.

Carty died of head trauma from the May 26 drill. The agency is investigating what happened.

Well, this is less about how police abuse the population than it is about how such brutality among themselves is clear cut evidence that police culture tends toward the abusive. These are their own, and one of them died from this bizarre "training." This is what they teach cops to do. Is it any wonder that when they finally make it out into the field that the tendency is to treat suspects and innocent bystanders in like manner?
