Bush Planning Massive Bombing
Campaign Against Iran, Including Nukes

From Think Progress courtesy of Eschaton:

Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reports a major scoop in the current edition of the New Yorker. AFP has an overview:

The administration of President George W. Bush is planning a massive bombing campaign against Iran, including use of bunker-buster nuclear bombs to destroy a key Iranian suspected nuclear weapons facility, The New Yorker magazine has reported in its April 17 issue.

Â?The former intelligence officials depicts planning as Â?enormous,Â? Â?hecticÂ? and Â?operational,Â? Hersh writes.

Â?In recent weeks, the president has quietly initiated a series of talks on plans for Iran with a few key senators and members of the House of Representatives, including at least one Democrat, the report said.

And, apparently, the White House is so serious about using nukes against Iran that several members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have threatened to resign if the plans are not abandoned. Yeah, this is absolutely amazing. After everything, after everything, Bush still thinks he's headed in the right direction. And he wants to uses nukes. Nukes. Jesus Christ, I thought I'd heard everything. Lies, massive grand rip-offs, countless needless war deaths, torture. Now he wants to drop fucking nuclear bombs on Iran.

Well, if that happens, it's over. The US, as a nation, would be irrevocably evil. It would truly be the time to consider some sort of real insurrection here at home. Seriously. I mean, if Congress won't do anything about the psycho running the country, and he's off dropping the grand daddy of all weapons of mass destruction on the Middle East, then the citizenry must do something. Frightening. Trust me, I have no desire to be a revolutionary--I'm too damned old for that shit. But, I ask, what does it have to come to before overthrowing the government becomes a moral imperative? I hope to god this doesn't happen. It would be far, far worse than 9/11.
