Scientists offered cash to dispute climate study
From the London Guardian courtesy of AlterNet:
Scientists and economists have been offered $10,000 each by a lobby group funded by one of the world's largest oil companies to undermine a major climate change report due to be published today.
Letters sent by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), an ExxonMobil-funded thinktank with close links to the Bush administration, offered the payments for articles that emphasise the shortcomings of a report from the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

So much for the "debate" on global warming. That is, it's not a debate at all, and it hasn't been for a long time. I mean, on one side you have scientists who have reached their conclusions by way of scientific method--observation, hypothesis, experimentation, repeat ad nauseam. On the other side you have a bought conclusion coupled with cherry-picking of various facts chosen to support that pre-paid point of view. That is, it's bullshit from the get-go. Unfortunately, when you get guys who are actually recognized as scientists to go for the money, the lay public is easily confused, especially those who rely on Fox News and the National Review for their information.
I've got some very good reasons for not having any children.
