When workers make more money, consumers purchase more, which causes business to expand, creating more jobs and prosperity for everybody. The reverse is also true. When workers make less money, consumers purchase less, which causes business to stagnate, creating fewer jobs and less, or no, prosperity for everybody.
We've been pursuing the workers-make-less-money strategy since I was in high school, insanely calling it a good idea. We double down on failure year after year. Because the entire political establishment, Democrat and Republican alike, thinks that destroying demand is good for the economy. It's not. That's why everything sucks today.
And nobody in power has the slightest inclination toward changing things. Expect America-the-Suck to continue for the rest of our lives.
